Best Intentions

Every New Year’s Day I make a series of resolutions for the new year. The only rule is that I’m not allowed to make any resolutions about weight loss or money and that has served me well in the past.

One year I made it my resolution to floss everyday: and it worked great because I was supposed to be doing it and it didn’t take long each day and then I could cross it off my to-do list. If you know me then you know that my to-do lists are a full page and several columns long and crossing things off my to do list is a compulsive little pleasure that can make or break my day.

This year I seem to have a lot of resolutions that I want to try to accomplish. When it comes to resolutions I usually try to limit myself to ONE so that I can stay on task for the whole year, but this year I can’t seem to narrow it down. I take this to mean that I have a lot of changes that I want to make in my life- and the time to do it is now.

So to keep myself honest, here are my resolutions.

  • Floss everyday. (I’ve gotten out of the habit and need to get back into it.)
  • Run 1100 mile before next New Years Day. (About 3 miles per day for 365 days. I hope to build up my distance again so some runs will be much longer and some days I will rest and not run at all.)
  • Send Birthday cards to everyone in my address book in time for their birthdays.
  • And on the subject of letter writing: to always write my letters on proper stationary, not notebook paper. I’m a grown-up now.
  • Update this blog everyday. Minimum of 365 words and 1 photo.
  • Do artwork for 1 hour every day. I’ve gotten out of the habit and I SORELY need to get back into it.
  • Double the number of hours I put towards filmmaking. If this is really what I want to be doing I need to be doing more of it.
  • Cross one item off my Bucket List. This one I have a running start on, but that is a story for another time. Stay tuned 🙂
