Stuff To Write About

Cluttered mind? Clean it up with Orbitz!

Well, I can’t think of anything to write… I’ll get back to it once I’ve had some lunch.

One of the hardest parts about this goal of writing a blog every day is thinking of things to write about. It is deceptive when, on New Years Day, you tell yourself:

“Sure, just write a little bit about what is going on in your life each day. It’ll be easy! It’ll be fun!”

And then sometime in the middle of March you realize that you have nothing to say and that nothing interesting has happened in your life within the past twenty four hours and you’ve already written four or five posts about struggling with writer’s block.

After my grievous lamentations yesterday about the modest amount of traffic that I get to my blog I realized that I ought to be a little bit more reciprocating about reading other people’s blogs: especially the people who are good enough to “like” my posts on a regular basis. So this brought me to a blog called Follow Your Heart And Life Will Follow. We have a shared interest in running, Follow and myself, and since I have recently been a bit lax about my morning exercise routine I was hoping to find some inspiration to get me back on my feet.

It turns out that I did find inspiration- but not for running. Instead I happened upon a blog called the “30 Day Blog Challenge” (which had, itself, been picked up by “Follow” from another blog called “Sarandipidous” so it has quite a long pedigree) with a list of thirty suggestions for blog topics.

“BRILLIANT!” I thought (in an internal voice that sounded like Teddy Roosevelt) “I SHALL DO THIS THING!”

Bully! And on the 31st day I shall start a national park!

Bully! And on the 31st day I shall start a national park!

So I am blatantly ripping off imitating with intentions of great flattery this list of blog topics. My plan is to use these topics for the days when I have nothing else of interest to write about, so they may happen all at once or they may get spread out over more than thirty days in a row.

  1. Congratulations on starting a blog challenge! I, too, struggled with ideas for posts. Before, I thought I had so many ideas and then when it came down to actually writing them out I was lost! I’m so happy you found my blog, it’s beautiful to see how far these posts reach! The picture you have is actually one that I pieced together. I mashed a number of challenges together to make a list specific to me.

Thank you for listing me within your post and alerting me to another challenger! You’ve just gained another follower! Good luck 🙂

    • Heya
Sweet- if it is your list then you did a great job: the topics look like fun 🙂 I hope you’ll check back and see what I come up with (although admittedly I’m not looking forward to #12 😉

  2. I usually get my ideas when performing mundane tasks like drying my hair or washing dishes. I guess my mind is empty then and open to whatever may spin through.
