You Nominated Me For An Award? Well, OK Then!

So this morning I was delighted to discover that I’d been nominated for a “Shine On” Award. I don’t really know what that is, but it sounds nice and, hey, it’s a Saturday and I don’t have much to write about so why not?

Apparently there are rules involved for this Award… sort of a pay-it-forward-chain-letter award so here’s THE RULES:

1. Display the award logo on your blog.

This is the logo that was on the blog that nominated me. It’s nice in a sort of cutie-patootie kind of way but I can do better.

Shine On

What can I say? Once a comic book artist, always a comic book artist.

So pass along whichever one you like better- I don’t think anyone is going to call the award-police on you. You don’t even have to cite me for the artwork- consider it a donation to the public domain.

2. Link back to the person who nominated you.

Thank you- thank you everybody! But most of all thank you AnneSquared for thinking of me, your fellow INTJ, blogger and lover of dark humor.

3. State 7 things about yourself.

1. Facts About Myself: In which I kinda blew all my Facts About Myself yesterday whilst writing a blog called “20 Random Facts About Myself” for a 30 Day Blog challenge, so if you actually want trivia about me you can find it by following the link. To avoid repetition I’m going to write seven follow ups for previous posts. We’ll count this one as number one.

2. DIY Dairy: In which I decided to try making homemade yogurt: The yogurt turned out pretty OK! It is thinner and less consistent than store bought yogurt but it took me two tries. First I tried making it out on the patio with just the sun but either it wasn’t warm enough or didn’t have long enough to culture. The next day I put it in the oven on low for 20 min then turned off the heat and left it alone all day. Worked great!

3. Back to Bass(ics): In which I describe the circuitous route necessary to get me back in the habit of practicing the bass. I successfully managed to practice a full hour every day this past week. I can now play major scales AND minor scales, have *most* of the circle of fifths memorized, and can’t feel the tips of my fingers on my left hand.

4. Reasons Why It’s Great To Be A Millenial: In which I satirize all the traits that give Millenials a bad reputation and learn, as a result, that even Millenials think Millenials are a bit useless. To be fair, though, I’m at the old end of the Millenial generation and the young end has barely outgrown what we like to call “The Mutant Phase” of adolescence. Let them have their fun: they’ll get the hang of this “Life” business soon enough.

5. Intervals: In which I describe reading about the benefits of an extremely strenuous workout and then am foolish enough to try it IRL. I’ve done two interval workouts since writing this post and the effect upon my body was apparent and immediate. Suddenly I have muscle definition that weeks of distance running failed to produce AND my pace and endurance on my most recent long run (eight miles) was noticeably better than previous runs. I still hate running intervals, though.

6. Intervals (Part 2): In which the inspiration to run intervals was discovered in a book called “Antifragile” by Nicholas Nassim Taleb. If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you may have noticed that I haven’t written a Beer, Book, and Blog post for several weeks. Partly this is because I’ve given up beer until funds improve and partly it is because I’m still trying to get through this “Antifragile” book. It’s an excellent book, but non-fiction slows me WAY down.

7. Brainedness: Again, if you are a regular follower of my blog you probably noticed that I haven’t written much on the subject of Introversion (one of my favorite topics) since I was commenting on “The Introvert’s Advantage” by Marti Olsen Laney. I recently found this great cartoon explaining the Introvert’s experience at a party, but didn’t have much to add to it so here is the link so you can form your own opinion:

Also here is a stolen borrowed image from Luchie to whet your appetite to actually click on the link. Doooooo iiiiiiiit.

  1. Thank you so much!! I am thoroughly grateful you thought of me! ❤

  2. I love the cartoon from Luchie. That is what I would do at my in-laws, while they would sit in the same room and talk from sunup until sundown.
