The Season’s Upon Us

Why yes, I WILL have another Long Winter's Nap, thank you!

Why yes, I WILL have another Long Winter’s Nap, thank you!

I woke up this morning and realized that I’d completely forgotten to write a post yesterday. If the thought even occurred to me I probably squashed it pretty quickly in an effort to get all the Christmas gifts wrapped and boxed up so that we could ship them today: I also realized that it is just one spare week until Christmas day. Nothing like a deadline to light the afterburners.

Now our gifts are in the hands of FedEx and, fingers crossed, will be flung at high speeds across the country to The Folks. It was a rather spare year for gifts, considering that we weren’t able to spend a lot of money and I didn’t have a ton of time to make things. I was partly saddened and partly relieved by this. I love giving gifts and Christmas gives me the excuse to do it, so I was sad that I didn’t have the time and resources to give everyone the attention they deserve. At the same time it was SO nice to just put together a “little something” for each family and call it done.

My next task will be to do the New Years cards. I ordered them in the first week of December and, as it turns out, was smart to choose a New Years theme instead of a Christmas theme since the prints only arrived yesterday. It’s an annoying fact, but to be honest I’m not sure that I would have had time to commit to them any sooner anyway.

I’ve never been so glad to have a “Winter Break” as I am right now. For eldritch reasons that I can’t quite put my finger on, I’ve been abnormally tired for the past week or so. If I’m completely honest, the reasons probably aren’t strange at all. It’s probably just a factor of running too hard for too long and my body’s way of letting me know is by wanting to nap all the time. I’m making an effort to pace myself rather than just trying to blast the tiredness into oblivion with caffeine and sugar. Maybe I’ll even get around to going running again soon.
