Just wait til I blog this up later.

Just wait til I blog this up later.

Well, it’s the second week of the semester and already I am falling into the trap of having nothing to talk about except classes. The problem has several parts. For one thing it is all that I think about for twelve to fourteen hours of the day so by the time I sit down to write a blog- if I’m lucky enough to have time to do so- I haven’t given an ounce of thought towards what else I could write about.

I could get out of the grad school mindset, probably, if I had time to sit and let my mind unclench, but if I find my mind wandering the first place it wanders to is all the class related things that I ought to be using my time for. This happened to me yesterday: I had several hours between classes – enough time to eat a hot meal for a change- and I fully intended to blog, but simply couldn’t come up with a topic that wasn’t More Of The Same.

At the moment I still don’t have anything truly new to write about, but I’m writing about it anyway in true blogger fashion. It’s the worst habit of all: blogging about blogging. No wonder the internet is made of inanity. But since I’m at it I might as well commit to it: in for a penny, in for a pound as they say.

On the subject of blogging: I would like to go on the record and attempt to express just exactly how much I hate the word “blog” and it’s derivatives. Blogging sounds like something that a cat does on the carpet during shedding season. Hacking up a blog. It’s just an ugly, vomity sounding word: similar to “blob” only throatier.

I know that it’s just an abbreviation of the word “weblog” but that doesn’t console me much. Whenever possible I try to avoid it by saying that I’m writing a “post” or “entry”. I try to describe myself as a writer who happens to share content online rather than a blogger who has an opinion and an internet soapbox, although here I am doing exactly that.

At any rate I’ll quit while I’m ahead and leave it at that. Tomorrow I’ll write something, you know, interesting.
