The Streak

And if that doesn't work, here is a kitten on a motivational poster.

Because what’s more inspiring than kittens?

I’ve been on a pretty good writing streak lately- nearly a week now without missing a post. I realized this earlier today when I was looking at my progress chart. Now, though, it is nearly eleven. Part of me just wants to go to bed without writing: it has been a long day, it’s late, I’m tired, I have a headache… I have many excuses to choose from, but a part of me doesn’t want to give up on such a good writing streak without a fight.

So here’s me fighting.

Unfortunately, even though I have the will to write, I don’t have much to write about. Yesterday was a day that everything seemed “just a bit off” and today was the same. Things kept going wrong- but then righting themselves. I thought I’d misplaced a bunch of equipment that is due to be returned on Friday and spent a solid hour scrambling to try to find it, only to discover that I’d had the missing pieces all along. This cut into time I was planning on using for sound editing, but then when I got down to the post production lab the sound editing that I’d planned to do went more quickly than I’d anticipated. I discovered a pair of Easter cards that I had bought several weeks ago (back when I was clearer headed) and decided that I’d make the effort to try to mail them- but then spilled coffee on them while carrying them to the mailbox.

It’s just been one of those days.

It doesn’t help that I’ve been dragging my tail for the past few days. Every time I wake up I feel like I’ve been hit by a train. Maybe it’s the weather? Maybe it is just because it is the end of the semester and I have so many things on my mind that my mind is having trouble processing it all? Who knows. I’m just trying to hold on until the weekend- the first weekend with no production-related obligations that I’ve had in weeks.

At any rate, this isn’t my most inspired writing and I apologize, but I hope that by writing something crummy today that the momentum will turn into something interesting down the line. Fingers crossed!
