Long Winter’s Nap

In true Christmas spirit, the morning was dedicated to Skyping with family and opening gifts and the afternoon was dedicated to napping. And boy did I nap. I’m not sure that I’ve slept that hard in months: the kind of sleep where you wake up four hours later wondering why it is dark outside. When I woke up my first thought was: “Oh, I forgot that I was supposed to be nap-sleeping” (instead of long- haul nighttime sleeping). When I laid down I had this idea of napping for a little while and then getting up and going for a run, but I slept so long that by the time I woke up the sun was already down.

The next challenge will be to see whether I can sleep through the night after such a prodigious amount of daytime hibernation.

Sleeping habits aside, it was a good, low key Christmas. The Curmudgeonly Lion and I exchanged gifts and chatted with family from afar and wished that we could have been closer. I sometimes look around myself and can’t believe my good fortune to have such wonderful family and friends and so much to be grateful for. I spend a lot of time complaining and feeling guilty, but really life treats me very well and I am very grateful.
