Meh, IRS only wanted an ear this year.

The list for the day was short: Do Taxes. So that is what I did. It’s a relief to have them done: the deadline isn’t for another month and a half, but they were hanging over my head so there didn’t seem to be any reason to wait.

Next year I am going to need to begin paying estimated taxes again- it won’t be long before I’m back in the business of being an independent contractor, complete with self employment taxes. The joys of the working world. But if it means that I’m working and being paid then I’m going to go ahead and look forward to it because it beats the alternative of not working and not making anything at all.

I suppose it feels funny to be talking about taxes on Oscar night ( Oscar’s night?) but frankly they were what I really felt like celebrating. The Academy Awards ceremony seemed unusually strained this evening which made it rather uncomfortable to watch with everybody making pointed swipes at the diversity conversation going on surrounding the industry of late. I don’t disagree- it’s a conversation that needs to be had, but that doesn’t make it easy to watch.

So now it’s off to another busy week. One big thing is crossed off of my list. The next major task: take the van in for a smog test. It’s a glamorous life that I lead.
