November Rain

It’s raining in LA.

It is a light but steady drizzle. In other parts of the country it might be described as ‘misting’ and probably wouldn’t even warrant a quickened step, much less an umbrella, but this is LA, so it counts as rain. The morning traffic responded accordingly.

For once, the weather is wholly appropriate to the season and to my mood. The shock of the cold dampness took me by surprise. The whole of Los Angeles seemed to be clouded over in chilly resignation. Perhaps it is tears for the Dodgers. Given the choice, I’d spend the whole day on a couch somewhere with a cat and book, (or a notebook- it’s NaNoWriMo after all. Which sounds like a boy scout camp but is actually National Novel Writing Month, and I just do happen to be in the middle of writing a novel).

So November is off to a dreary start. Now that Halloween is over, we’re officially into the holiday slope towards the end of the year, and all the things that I’ve been putting off all year are finally stacking up against the deadline of the holidays: do I really want to carry these projects into another year? Can I cross any of them off without driving myself crazy? One way to find out, I guess.
