About a year and a half ago, I helped out on a friend’s film doing craft services (that means providing snacks). At the time, I knew nothing of the script. A friend of mine was producing it and needed a hand so I said ‘yes’ and that was that. It sounds strange, but it was nice to be at the bottom of the proverbial food chain for a while: my contributions wouldn’t show on screen, and all I was responsible for was showing up on time and making sure no one got hangry. Which is actually a lot like being a producer on set except with less stress and paperwork.

Anyway, the film had its premiere screening last night and the trailer looked actually pretty amazing

It turned out to be a pretty solid film in a “Goonies meets an escape room” kind of way. And it was fun to have the excuse to go out to a movie on a Thursday night, even if it did mean staying up past my normal bedtime. The theatre was in the heart of Westwood in an area that I’d seen from the bus but never actually had a chance to explore, so it was a nice change of pace.
