Rain Day

The cat will now only eat Fancy Feast.

This is what I get for leaving her with our nextdoor neighbor/landlady while we were out of town over the holidays: in true grandmotherly fashion she broke out the The Good Stuff and now there’s no going back.

I gotta say, though, I can see the appeal: it actually looks like real meat. Hell, the seafood-and-shrimp-supper has big enough pieces of shrimp in it that I’m tempted to break out the cocktail sauce. And, I mean, our cat has earned it. She works hard. Doing absolutely nothing. All day long.

I want to be a pampered housecat in my next life.

I can’t really complain- this morning I got to sleep in late and lie in bed listening to the rain, which is a rare treat. Apparently I slept well: the Curmudgeonly Lion tells me that I dreamed on account of the fact that I was laughing, chatting, and apparently talking to someone named “Jimmy”. I don’t recall who this was or what the context of the dream might have been.

Once I did emerge from indolence, I committed myself to spending the day in my studio to just focus on paperwork and clearing my project. The rain was a blessing for giving me the perfect excuse to not do anything else beside spend the day in the office clearing paperwork. I filed old bills and caught up on some correspondence, and even made some headway on a project that’s been hanging over my head for years now. So all in all I feel pretty good.

It’s officially been six years since we arrived in Los Angeles, as of today. I can’t believe how much life we’ve managed to squeeze into those years. Here’s hoping the coming years can be just as full.
