Right Minded

I recently cracked apart a script in order to break it into ten smaller episodes for a series. At the time, it was very satisfying: the original concept already had an episodic feel to it, but was being crammed into a feature length page-count like an ugly step sister’s toes into a glass slipper. My little piggies needed to breathe!

Now, having broken it down, I need to reconsider which story threads to build the new arcs around and I haven’t quite been able to articulate that yet. My brain has been a veritable stew of creative ideas- concepts for this project, inspirations for other projects, philosophical journeys of self discovery, flights of improbable fantasy, ruminations on the state of the world, and, inevitably, internet memes.

But, alas, very few words on the page. For all my mental acrobatics, I find myself struggling to find words when I sit down with the computer or notebook and try to write. Everything is so ethereal and nebulous that trapping the ideas in a cage of text is dissatisfying to the point of being nauseating. I might be able to jot some notes here and there, but I doubt that I’ll make much progress executing the ideas yet. I think maybe that’s ok- I’ll just focus on sketching out the loosest shape of the ideas while they’re fresh and see if I can build done structure around them later.
